Maggie Sydenham is a late bloomer, finding a talent for public speaking and entertaining at the age of seventy. An accomplished Keynote Speaker and raconteur, Maggie entertains with stories of her chequered life and experiences and inspires her audiences to challenge themselves. Maggie has traced her family tree and makes her family history come to life with her entertaining style. She is a visual artist and writer and a self-confessed “Jill-of-all-trades”, having had over sixty jobs in her working life because of an ongoing battle with boredom. Maggie is delighted to say that life since retirement is anything but boring!

Maggie provides a “how to” on tracing family history and information on some of the resources that are helpful. Maggie’s story telling makes some of the historical characters come alive, and will make everyone want to research their own family history.
Beating Boredom
Maggie’s talk is a light-hearted look at a dull subject – boredom. Bored with school, Maggie left before she was fifteen, but in this speech she reveals how, despite a lack of formal education, she embraced variety, creativity and stimulation in her life. She is still seeking new experiences at age 70. This talk is aimed at motivating retired people to seek new and ever more difficult experiences in later life.
